Volunteer Commitments

Volunteer commitments are compulsory at Glenlake Minor Hockey Club. The number of required commitments depends on the category in which each player participates:

U7: 1 commitment

U9: 2 commitments

U11: 2 commitments

U13: 2 commitments

U15: 2 commitments

U18: 1 commitment

Note: Volunteer commitments per family will not exceed those required for two players. For example, a family with a child in U9 and one in U7 must fulfill three commitments (one for U7 and two for U9) and provide three post-dated cheques.

Volunteer Positions & Credits

Position (Credits)Roles
Bingo Worker (1)Works at one Bingo session at an assigned position. See bingo dates at the bottom of this document.
Bingo Chairperson (2)Coordinates a Bingo session, ensuring all positions are filled. Contacts volunteers 48 hours prior to the session, assumes Chairperson responsibilities at the Bingo hall, and delivers sign-in sheets and financial paperwork to the Treasurer.
Casino Worker (2)Works at one Casino at an assigned position.
Head Coach (4)Responsible for developing practice plans and attending necessary coach meetings/sessions. Only one Head Coach per team.
Assistant Coach (3)Assists the Head Coach with practice plans and other duties. Maximum of four Assistant Coaches per team.
Team Manager (3)Assists coaches in preparing game sheets, organizing timekeepers, exhibition games, tournaments, and other duties.
Team Safety Coordinator (2)
  • Verifies health checks have been completed by players and coaches at every ice time (accessible through TeamSnap).
  • Ensures safety preparedness, such as knowing rink addresses, locations of defibrillators, safety kits, and maintaining safety protocols during ice sessions.
  • Required to take the Hockey Canada Safety online course (cost reimbursed by Glenlake).
  • Tracks and reports injuries to the Glenlake Safety Director. Aims to identify injury patterns and mitigate risks.

NOTE: • No volunteer credits will be given for timekeepers, scorekeepers, gatekeepers and trainers throughout the season. • No volunteer credits will be given for team functions such as tournament organiser, team treasurers or social coordinator • Volunteer Credits cannot be carried over to future seasons.

VOLUNTEER BONDS
Volunteer commitment cheques will no longer be collected, instead volunteer bonds will be post dated to the credit card used during the registration process for May 15th of each season.  Families who have paid the optional volunteer commitment during the registration process and complete the required volunteer bond will have their monies refunded back to the credit card used during the registration process.  Those families who do not complete their volunteer commitment will have their May15th payment processed.
